Bill Weyland is renovating yet another downtown Louisville treasure. The former YWCA, which is located at the southwest corner of Third and Chestnut Streets, is one of Louisville’s most noticeable and historic buildings. The $20 million renovation has restored the building to its former glory and repurposed it for the newly enlivened Fourth Street corridor.
The lower floors house a Moroccan specialty shop and Dooley’s Bagel Shop along with a catering firm, The Silver Spoon. The Grand Ballroom and the Elks Room are preserved and renovated. Upper floors in the building are reserved for condos and apartments.
The project also includes property that extends east to Fourth Street, which will become a public piazza, and the historic Wright-Taylor Building on Fourth Street, which will contain additional commercial space.
The building is just a short walk from numerous downtown hotspots, such as Fourth Street Live! and the Louisville Palace.
